Rules of Conduct

The safety of our students is always a top priority. Should you have any questions regarding the Rules of Conduct or possible violations, please contact the nTyme Ethics Chairperson or any member of the nTyme Board of Directors.

The Rules of Conduct apply to all nTyme students, parents, volunteers and representatives regardless of capacity or position. The rules apply at all nTyme rehearsals, workshops, sectionals, performances, meetings, and to all other nTyme sponsored or related events unless otherwise stated. Any violation of the Rules of Conduct, including consistent non-attendance at rehearsals, workshops, sectionals, performances, meetings or other nTyme sponsored or related events, may result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, seat demotion, exclusion from future performances, expulsion from the ensemble, expulsion from the executive, committee or volunteer position or expulsion from nTyme.

Student Members:

  • All students are representatives of nTyme and the community and are expected to conduct themselves accordingly at all times and in all activities. Any action that jeopardizes either another person, whether a member of nTyme or not, or the reputation of nTyme, shall be deemed inappropriate conduct and subject to the rules and consequences outlined herein.
  • All rules in the California State Education Code regarding dress, behavior (physical altercation, defiance, insubordination, or obscene language or gestures) and possession of illegal or banned substances will be enforced, unless otherwise stated.
  • For couples, no public displays of affection (“PDA”).
  • The use of electronic devices, including cell phones for purposes of calling or text messaging, is not permitted during rehearsals or performances except for emergencies.
  • Respect one another, all staff and adult leaders and chaperones.
  • Respect and comply with all event schedules and time tables.
  • Respect all property at all facilities.
  • Respect other musical ensembles at any festival or event.
  • Rehearsal start times mean in seat, ready to play; this includes call times for performances.
  • It is expected that all percussionists arrive early to rehearsals and events to set up equipment and be ready at the stated start times.
  • All students are expected to attend rehearsals, workshops, sectionals, performances, meetings or other nTyme sponsored events. Absences are understood, but consistent non-attendance at rehearsals, workshops, sectionals, performances, meetings or other nTyme sponsored events is not appropriate. Please inform the Music Director, your section leader, and the nTyme President if you will be absent.

Parent/Guardian:

  • You are a representative of nTyme and the community.

  • We are all volunteers; respect one another, including students, event staff, nTyme members, musicdirectors and chaperones.

  • No student, parent/guardian, volunteer, nTyme representative or music director should confront anotherstudent, parent/guardian, volunteer, nTyme representative or music director. All disputes shall be broughtto the attention of an nTyme Board of Director or the nTyme Ethics Chairperson.
  • All decisions regarding ensembles selection and seating are made at the sole discretion of the musicdirectors and shall not be questioned or disputed by students or parents/guardians.
  • All students are expected to attend rehearsals, workshops, sectionals, performances, meetings or othernTyme events. Absences are understood, but consistent non-attendance is not appropriate, nor is it fair toother students or the ensemble. Please inform the Music Director, your section leader, and thenTyme President if your child will be absent.
  • Additional rules may apply if you are an nTyme volunteer.

    Check our website at www.ntyme.org for audition application, eligibility requirements, and audition music for all orchestral parts; flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion violin, viola, cello, bass.
